North Star Sheets, an affiliate of Schwarz Partners, a corrugated paper manufacturing industry leader, currently has exciting opportunities available for a Tower Operator - 2nd Shift in Cottage Grove, MN! 2nd Shift: 3:45pm-12:15am, Monday-Friday As a Tower Operator, you act as the central point of communication and leadership for the corrugator during the shift. The control room operator is responsible for process control, order fulfillment, and meeting production goals by working with all departments to monitor corrugator computer systems to ensure optimal efficiency and production of quality corrugated sheets. North Star Sheets Essential Job Functions: Follow all safety and company policies and procedures including maintaining good housekeeping, reporting any issues, accidents or incidents immediately; must complete online safety training each month as assigned Responsible for following and editing orders in queue as needed Constant communication with entire corrugator crew and production supervisor on all changes/issues Monitor all corrugator computer systems ensuring system is functioning efficiently and correctly Responsible for monitoring board at all steps of production ensuring quality of product and best run practices Verify all manual scores Verify all quality testing to ensure a quality product Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of shear, slitter, knife, control room, and tools for the job Complete accurate production and downtime reports after each shift Follow all established SOP’s as well as newly introduced SOP’s Troubleshoot any equipment problems and report to management/maintenance immediately Constantly monitor orders and ensure customer special requests are followed Assist in eliminating downtime by tracking and monitoring the flow of units through the bander/shipping Provide On the Job Training as needed Regular and predictable attendance; attendance must be exemplary Must be able to work flexible hours and/or extended hours Perform other duties as assigned North Star Sheets requires the following skills and abilities: 2 years of corrugated experience is required Ability to work overtime and occasional Saturdays dependent on customer demand Ability to train on various shifts during first 90 days Ability to work in a fast paced, challenging, and results driven environment Ability to function as a professional individual who communicates effectively An energetic, motivated, and dependable worker who is dedicated to the team Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all unites of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals Computer skills are required Physical Demands Constant standing, talking, hearing, walking; frequent stooping and bending, twisting, turning, maintaining balance; occasional kneeling and reaching over the shoulder; also required simple grasping, pushing and pulling; must be able to lift 50 lbs., specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception and peripheral vision As an industry leader North Star Sheets offers: Culture of safety through monthly safety trainings Exceptional pay and great, affordable benefits (including life, medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match and more) *Company 401(k) match tops out at 3% Monthly Team Share bonuses – Earn a bonus equal to a percentage of your monthly wages based on plant performance.
